Espoo's sauna scene is shaped by geography: a long, indented coastline with swimming beaches, and a forested interior that ends in Nuuksio's lakes. The recent wave of wood-fired container saunas (the Löylykontti network among them) put public löyly directly on the waterfront at Kivenlahti and Matinkylä, with sea swimming year round. Inland, the tradition is the classic Finnish one: sauna, lake, repeat.
